Who's Who of Taos Artists
Following in the tradition of Ernest Blumenschein, the founding member of the Taos Society of Artists, Alan Heuer brings his New York academic training with a contemporary spin to the contemporary Taos art colony. His use of brilliant colors, direct design and just a bit of the old Masters makes him the quintessential Taos Post Modernist. In 2006, as a first time participant at the Taos Fall Arts Festival "Taos Invites Taos", Alan Heuer won 1st place for his painting "On the Road to Lili's". He is now considered a 21st Century Taos Icon.
Landscapes of the West and Beyond
When he's not painting in and around Taos, New Mexico and Santa Fe, Heuer likes to paint visionary landscapes which combine multiple geographic locations into one painting, a sort of "hyper-reality" he has coined as "Utopic Displacement". "Utopia literally means nowhere, but these paintings contain multiple somewheres, thus they are both real and imagined, they are utopias displaced." Alan's Utopia Series includes two significant paintings which commemorate the World Trade Center 9/11 demolition: "War is Peace" and "Reflections or Utopia Broken".
