His painting themes are strongly influenced by the nature of his native country, his travels in the South Pacific and the American Southwest. He has developed his own unique style of abstract-impressionism, "Pres de la Terre" (close to the earth) method he calls ?Terrarism". His style, at once primitive and sophisticated, reflects the transmutations of nature through weather and seasons; the gradual building and tearing away of layers. Laurent?s paintings are emotional - a seduction into nature?s turmoil and beauty.
