1st Place winner of the 2006 Taos Invites Taos, Alan Heuer is a Wyoming native who eventually made his way to Taos to immerse himself in the art scene here. While here he has begun to attract attention with his large dramatic landscapes of the west & beyond, the later having been coined by the artist as "utopic displacement". His large negative utopia, "War Is Peace" now ranks near the top of both Google and Yahoo images. "I love to shock and surprise the viewer into responding emotionally to some of the beauty I see, to get down to a primal level, to push the color and tonal drama of the landscape, both real and displaced." In addition to being a "Taos Post Modernist.", Alan is a modern-day Renaissance man. He is a published author -- "Search for Harmony", a certified information engineer (C.L.N.P.) and a Master of the clarinet cum laude (CUNY), having performed in all the major New York City concert halls (including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center). He studied classical landscape painting with Prix de West winner, Jim Wilcox, Gary Godbee of Seattle's Academy of Fine Art, and Kay Hazelip, instructor at the Art Student's League of New York. Alan Heuer is represented in New Mexico by Sage Fine Art in Taos -- http://www.SageFineArtTaos.com. You may also visit my extensive online gallery at: http://www.AlanHeuer.com ... |
