This is the main panel of my commissioned diptych combining the Colorado Rockies, specifically a romanticization of the Maroon Bells outside of Aspen and the Rio Grande Gorge in New Mexico. The Aurora Borialis can on occasion actually be viewed from as far south as Boulder which is just west of Broomfield where my client resides. In our initial conversations for this commission I had suggested looking north from New Mexico into Colorado. She suggested the northern lights. I decided a night sky would not put the painting in its best light so I opted to move the sunset through time left to right from sunset to twighlight to night. The final result is quite effective. One should also take note of the small tree on the plain above the gorge on the left -- this tree gives a sense of the immensity of the landscape.

About the Painting
I use only the finest oil paints (Grumbacher pre-tested) and stretched fine art canvas. This large oil painting comes varnished (to protect the paint) stretched and ready to hang or frame. Although no absolute guarantee can be given as to longevity, I have followed to the best of my knowledge, as outlined by Ralph Mayer in his treatise to artists via long-standing master painter principals, those principals that best ensure an oil painting's ability to stand against the ravages of time.
This is not a knock-off. This is an original piece of fine art done done using my own reference materials and techniques. My painting style is not based upon that of any other artist, living or dead, but is the culmination of years of study, expermentation and practice.
