		Artist Link http://paintercass.multiply.com To me art is about pure expression. The widely varied range of possible results with acrylic and mixed media allows for a certain freedom of expression that I haven't found in any other media. And using these I've found that over the years my process has become more freely expressive and more satisfyingly intuitive. Though I start with general plans for composition and color, once I start painting it's almost like the expression itself takes over and comes out through the brush with little direction from me. The finished painting is often a surprise and always a learning experience, and this is what I love about painting. Lately my focus has been on slightly abstracted expressionistic portraits -- soul portraits or abstractions of spirit if you will. I still do abstracted landscapes and other abstracts, but I'm finding that the process of studying the subject's features, mood and personality, and then rendering all of it in bold compositions and colors, is a particularly satisfying experience for both the subject and myself.
